Subject Requesting Recommendations for the Participants in the 2020 YPF
- The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) will be hosting the 2020 Young Professional Forum (‘YPF’) in Seoul, Korea in which a total of 60 scientists and engineers are expected to participate. The forum is scheduled to be held from Mon, June 29, 2020 to Sat, July 4, 2020, and 40 Korean young scientists and engineers from abroad, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, China and Russia as well as 20 young scientists and engineers in Korea will be attending the forum.
- The YPF has been held every year since 2018 by the KOFST with the aim of building the sense of fellowship within the Korean community as well as promoting the capacity of young scientists and engineers at home and abroad to lead the way in the knowledge-based society by exchanging views on their vision for the future high-tech science and technology and establishing a network and a cooperative system among Korean experts residing in Korea and overseas.
- Accordingly, we would like to invite and select the participants for the “YPF-2020” as follows. Please recommend us the qualified candidates that are evenly distributed by major and school.
- Eligibility: Current graduate students or postdoctoral researchers with a science or engineering major and an ability to communicate effectively in English or Korean. Must be born in January 1, 1985 or later.
* Postdoctoral researchers must have earned their doctoral degrees within 5 years
- Number of participants: A total of 3 participants
1) General participants: 1.5, 2nd or later generation young scientists and engineers with an overseas citizenship or a permanent residency
※ Disadvantaged and vulnerable groups (orphans, single-parent families, adoptees, etc.) will receive preference (within 20% of the general participants)
- Deadline for submission: Friday, February 28, 2020
- Submit to: External Cooperation Team (email: tkyou@kofst.or.kr)
- Grant Details: Part of the round-trip airfare (Up to USD 1,100) and the entire accommodation expenses
– Round-trip airfare: When participating in the event, submit a photocopy of your passport and flight ticket, a receipt of the purchased ticket, and the proof of residence
- The KOFST will review all candidates recommended and notify them of the results after the final selection process. In order to facilitate an effective communication between the participants, please inform every candidate that they are required to sign up for the membership on the website

2020 Young Professional Forum (YPF)
□ Objectives:
- To establish a forum for mutual cooperation that strengthens and fosters the capacity of next generation talents in science and technology at home and abroad
- To provide educational and networking opportunities for young professionals of Korean heritage to grow into global leaders
- For young professionals of Korean heritage to understand the current scientific and technological development in Korea, and promote pride and ethnic ties through an academic cooperation
□ Dates: 29th of June (Mon) – 4th of July (Sat), 2020 (5 nights and 6 days)
□ Locations: Seoul and Gyeonggi-do
□ Host: Korean Federation of Science & Technology Societies (KOFST)
